John W. Berry is a Professor Emeritus in Department of Psychology, Queen's University at Kingston, Canada. His main research is in the general area of cross-cultural psychology. He is currently working on projects dealing with acculturation, intercultural relations, and ecological factors in human behaviour, especially in the areas of immigration, family and cognition.

In addition to some monographs and numerous articles, he has edited with colleagues many fundamental handbooks in the field of cultural and cross-cultural psychology: Human Ecology and Cognitive Style: Comparative Studies in Cultural and Psychological Adaptation (1976); Handbook of Cross-Cultural Psychology (3 vols, 1997), Cambridge handbook of acculturation psychology (2006).
